Representatives from the film industry, tourism organisations, politics and cultural institutions met on Wednesday, 4th May in the film studios in Fjellebroen close to Faaborg, Denmark to discuss the new path of Danish tourism. Challenges and opportunities of film tourism were introduced to the Danish tourism industry. People could get a glimpse of the challenges, the experiences and, not least, the multiple possibilities connected to the exploitation of Danish films towards both national and international tourists.

Speakers were Dr. Stefan Roesch, expert on filmtourism from Germany, Pierre Tolcini, visitsweden, section France, Henrik Møller-Sørensen, producer from ASA film, Mads Bødker, researcher on tourism and Julie Lindegaard, development officer at NSSP partner FilmFyn. Dr. Stefan Roesch pointed out that even a negative image given by a film could have a positive impact on people´s interest to visit a destination. His exemples for marketing possibilities ranged from IN BRUGES, THE DA VINCI CODE, CASINO ROYAL to LORD OF THE RINGS.

Also Pierre Tolcini emphazised the impact of Stieg Larsson´s detective novels for Sweden. 20% more French citizens visited Sweden in 2009 after watching the Millenium triology films. He showed trailers and best practice examples for "Nation Branding" and "Destination Marketing".
